Loss of Self

Rory E.

Oil paint

  • As I grow older I realize more and more that I don’t know who I am. This piece is a reflection of that; Parts of myself fade into obscurity overtime— but, as old ideas make way to new ones the cycle will continue. I used a mix of dry brushing and palette knife painting to create a distinct difference in textures symbolizing things fading away becoming less sharp while the ‘newer’ things are more in focus.

  • What creativity means to me is innate humanity. Making art has always been like breathing to me to be creative is to be human is to exist.
