Danza Argentina Op. 2 by A. Ginastera

Nicole M.

  • Danza Argentina Opus 2 is a very unique piece that I choose to play. It is a piece that is not Classical, Baroque, nor modern, and I like it because of how unique it is. The rhythm of the first movement has a fast pace, because it is a dance and has a more modern and minimalist melody. Because of the pace of this piece, I give accents to certain notes to make it more catchy. The parts that are said to do forte, I make them louder than they should be to make it more dramatic. In the second movement, it starts to slow down and changes into a romantic piece. This dance is different from the first movement dance, as it is the dance of the pretty girl. There is a lot of emotion in this movement, so I use a lot of technique while playing to accentuate notes to add more passion to the piece. Towards the end, I slow down the pace to end it on a dramatic note. Overall, the piece is very unique when switching between different playing styles and communicates a wide range of emotions.

  • I like to jump in and start creating without thinking too much about the end results. Throughout the process of trying and testing, I will find the best way for the piece to come together.
