My inspiration for this piece was the skeleton flower and roses. I wanted to create a beautiful crystal rose breaking out of a mirror that symbolizes inner beauty breaking free from the shackles of vanity and pride. To start this project, I first began researching the anatomy of roses and found multiple photos from different angles so that I could put the flower together in a way that resembled a rose. After the research, I bent some wires into the outline of rose petals. I crafted 10 rose petal frames and filled them with colored epoxy resin. After the petals were partially dry, I gently curved them a bit to make the flower petal shape and numbered them according to the order they would be put together. Then, I made a model of the flower stem out of paper clips and bent some wire for the actual flower stem after making sure the model worked. The next step was to assemble the flower. I first used hot glue to find the right spacing between the petals and secured them with UV resin afterward. The last thing I had to do was make the broken mirror and attach the flower to it. For that, I broke some acrylic mirrors which were then stuck onto an oval acrylic mirror, and secured the flower stem to the middle of the cracks with UV resin.

I have always loved creating my own decorations using many different types of media. From pencil and paper to the versatility of resin, clay, and wire, I find joy in expressing my creativity through various materials. Art has allowed me to make my creative ideas into physical objects.
