As a Nationally ranked competitive figure skater, I wanted to share my love for the sport and everything it has to offer. Figure skating combines both various dance styles with difficult acrobatics, therefore allowing me to maximize my self-expression in a unique way. My 2023-2024 Junior season program, titled Blackbird, is one I hold very near and dear to my heart. My family and I decided this piece aligned perfectly after an emotional season full of countless ups and downs, the scariest included two concussions and various MRI brain scans. Even though this was far from a perfect program, just receiving the invitation for a second chance to compete alongside the best was so special. My personal vision for Blackbird, was to share hope and inspiration to those who feel discouraged. I especially connected with the lines, “take these broken wings and learn to fly.” The past 8 years dedicated to this sport have taught me how important it is to “get up” and see the bright side in every situation, no matter the trails and adversity you may face. I hope I was able to encapsulate the joy I felt through my movement. Dancing across the ice is a feeling I will truly never get enough of.

For me, creativity is a way a self expression unique to oneself. I find creativity to often encourage, uplift, and inspire. I think the art of dance is such a special way to utilize original imagination, and communicate my emotions to an audience.
