We all feel that way sometimes. Don't you?

Creating photographs is a way for me to un-isolate myself, a way for me to connect with people. You can try to hide behind a camera but you won't have any success. Eventually you have to interact. This is half of my process. The other half is the actual photography. Seeing how light plays with your subject through the lens. Learning how my camera inside and out to capture moments that would be gone a split second later. Carefully spooling and developing and printing and scanning and editing my photos, until they create some sense of emotion in me.
I named this piece with a question to the viewer, reflecting on how the subject is isolating themselves with a mask over not just mouth and nose, but eyes as well. I'm asking the viewer if they sometimes feel alone.

I love photographing people and photography has allowed me to throw myself out in to the world and connect with people in a way that is usually outside of my comfort zone. Whether it is my friends, or random people on the street, photography gives me confidence.
