Natural Radiance

My artistic process involves me placing myself in situations with the highest chance of achieving an exceptional photograph. I search for suitable subjects, (and in some cases like this photograph I arranged my own), choose a lens, arrange a composition, and wait for the times of day and lighting that will give me my desired effect on the photograph. The day I took this photograph had been very rainy, which creates deep blue skies, and there were varying levels of cloud cover that I knew could create gorgeous light when the sun set and hit them from an angle. The light broke in a way that looks like a natural halo, and both accentuated the model as well as showing how small they are compared to nature’s majesty. It was an almost spiritual experience being there, and I tried to capture it as best as I could.

When I’m in nature, I feel a sense of awe about the world around me and an inner peace that can otherwise be very hard to find. Photography allows me to capture that so I can feel that connection beyond the individual moments, and convert it into a form where I can share that experience with others.
