Trent the Goat

Alister T.

  • While making this piece, I was really trying to loosen up and create a unique concept, so I thought what better than to make a goat in a clown costume? My process included duct taping and gluing records together, painting the goat onto the records with acrylic paint, adding flower and yarn details, and then gluing it to the matting board to keep everything super secure. My piece not only conveys my child-like side but also my side for the unimaginable. Clowns recently have been a scary symbol for some, and goats are often used as symbols of satanic worship. I wanted to take two inherently scary ideas and mix them into something ridiculous. My goal recently has been to take the seriousness out of life, and my goal is to relate it to my art as much as possible and just have fun.

  • Creating impacts my life by giving me a sense of purpose. Over time I have grown to find a way to express myself to others through art and actually show my experiences and my interpretation of life. Its given me a safe space to be individualistic.
