The Storm

Karina K.

  • This poem was inspired by witnessing horses galloping in the rain near my aunt's place in rural Sacramento. I was touched by the beauty of both the horses and the storm. I decided to convey the power of the storm through the metaphor of a horse, with the horse's different movements conveying the different stages of the storm, such as the hooves represented the pounding of the rain.

  • Exploring and expressing my creativity through writing helps me put the thoughts in my head down onto paper. It feels like I'm releasing the feelings I have about the world into the page. I like to express through poetry the beauty and power I witness in nature.
