Tarred and Feathered

The title of my artwork is "Tarred and Feathered". Medium: India Ink and Acrylic paint. The artwork is of a bird being stuck in tar and trying to escape. I used a calligraphy pen for the ink, to give it a scratchy texture, and a stretched out look. While making this piece I tried to give it a more panicked and anxious feeling. I wanted the viewer to feel what the bird was feeling. The background was painted red to enhance this feeling of alarm and create even more of a panic. I wanted this piece to represent being trapped, a feeling and experience everyone can relate to in different ways.

It is an outlet for my positive and negative emotions. Throughout the struggles of my life, I have always had art to help me through. It is where I can truly express myself without judgement. It has given me the answer to the question that many teenagers ask: What is my future career going to be?
