Sunflower

Katherine G.

  • "Sunflower" was taken during an outing with my sister and her friends. We went to a pumpkin patch in Livermore, California. It was sunny and the atmosphere was dry. There lay various pumpkins of beautiful tones of orange and different shapes and sizes. While I was walking with my sister and friends, I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to take photos and apply what I had been learning in my photography class. I remembered that my favorite activity in photography was learning about macro shots.

I saw this gorgeous and tall sunflower. The sun was hitting it just right, so I needed to take this photo! I started off by trying to capture the tallness of the sunflower. Then I tried to capture different angles. Once I zoomed in, I realized all of the details that captured my eye, and lead me to take this photo. I love that this photo shows all of the warmth that I felt from the sun. I also love how the shadows of the petals seep through, creating different layers and depths to the photo.

  • Exploring my creativity impacts my life because it helps me express myself in a different way. I can show my perspective and ideas to other people who may think differently. Expressing yourself can also inspire the people around you and can spark creative ideas.
