Sunflower by A. Tan

  • This is my rendition of a modern, classical-influenced composition for the marimba-- a wooden, resonant, deep-voiced type of xylophone in the percussion family! I recorded it in a few takes in a studio with a couple of overhead mics and my phone camera. Music literature especially for mallet percussion is something I enjoy studying.

  • At least to me, being creative in life promotes self-awareness and can help one process things in a new way; it brings me closer to myself. Especially through music, utilizing tools such as free improvisation allows me to be okay with any uncertainty in the future, wherever else that may apply.
