• Artist Statement

  I loved that artwork can make you notice an everyday or boring object. I like my photo because it makes the viewer rethink how they view a streetlight. The night before taking this photo I drove all around Marin and San Francisco taking photos for a night photography project. Although I was happy with some of my work, I decided to walk around my neighborhood the night before the project was due. I saw this streetlamp and thought it was interesting how it looks like the tree grew around it. I also liked the colors of the light, the tree, and the yellow sign complement each other. Walking around at night with a camera was very peaceful and allowed me to take in the details around me that I usually miss.

• Creative Statement

  Photography gives me a break from the stressful parts of my life and a way to express myself creatively. In the digital world that we live in, I loved that photography takes me into nature and gives me a way to explore the world through a different perspective.
