This project is a strong example of my enthusiasm for material exploration and innovation. Inspired by a hole-punch confetti accident, I decided to collage hundreds of individual paper circles onto the canvas. I love the movement and randomness they contribute to the piece. The hole punch circles’ layering effect in turn inspired me to play with other unconventional techniques: applying mounds of acrylic paint for a glossy texture and using a glue-stick’s outer rim as a stamp. Even with the inclusion of various textures and materials, I was able to maintain a sense of cohesion and fluidity. I achieved this by utilizing a consistent color palette and incorporating a repetitive dot pattern. Aside from material exploration, this piece highlights my imagination, which envisioned a parachute that transitions into a jellyfish as it descends. Overall, I believe this painting is reflective of my artistic spontaneity and creative curiosity.

I approach my art with a sense of unquenchable curiosity that reflects my yearning to make sense of the world around me. Each endeavor shares the common goal of discovery, inquiry, and imagination, and provides an outlet for me to explore my worldly perspective.
