This piece is the main theme from the movie Girl with a Pearl Earring (2003). I originally heard it while listening to the Classical California radio station on my drive to school, and I instantly fell in love with its the beautiful, magical tone. That day, I played the recording I had heard for all my friends, and I began learning the piece myself. I later watched the movie to more fully engross myself in the music, and I worked on conveying emotion through my playing. I chose to play this song as my latest flute recital piece to share it with fellow musicians. It is my favorite tune, and playing it always transports me to a world of intriguing mystery.

Music enriches my life through connections. When my Orchestra played at Carnegie Hall, we cherished conversing with the other musical groups. Music helped me connect with my great grandpa in the final years of his life. Ultimately, music represents the core of our humanity and betters the world.
