I took this photo of my friend Chloe at the end of a photoshoot we impulsively decided to do one Sunday afternoon. I requested for her to dress in a white shirt and flowy skirt, and layer a long black coat over it. My idea was to have her run around, getting the fabric to move and defy gravity. As the wind picked up, and the clouds rolled in, my idea changed to having her running the other way, turning back to face the camera with her arm stretched out, fabric billowing around her, hair flying. The stark contrast of the black and white, along with the flow down the length of the skirt and coat aided by the wind, allowed for a beautiful image of the fabrics mixing together to almost encapsulate Chloe. This image captures a moment frozen in time of her seemingly leading the viewer somewhere they can only imagine, while the ripples of fabric partially conceal her, the black and white being the dark and light sides of someone.

  • Photography allows me to relive memories and emotions captured in a single moment, a snapshot of time frozen, and share them with others. Having the opportunity to take photos for others has built my confidence and brought unique creative experiences into my life.
