Reflections In Paintings

Alex T.

  • This photo was taken in San Francisco, I was there photographing with my friends and we had almost finished for the day when we saw paintings in a window that changed when viewed from different angles. When viewed one way they looked human, and from another their faces were monstrous. While the monster faces were very interesting I thought that our reaction to those paintings was even more compelling. When taking this photo I wanted the paintings and the reflection in the glass to be of equal importance, so I took the picture at an angle where the paintings looked human. I also thought that the contrast between the paintings that looked like they were from an earlier time, the modern looking surroundings being reflected in the glass, and way that those two realities were being layered over each other was intriguing.

  • Exploring and expressing creativity impacts by life by helping me to understand my life and the world around me, and to see it in new ways. I also feel that being able to express myself though photographs allows me to convey an important part of myself.
