Peak A Boo

Chase F.

  • This image was taken outside of a train station in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I had been walking around for over an hour at this point just taking in the scene, and I really liked this scene behind a café with the chair and intense New Mexico clouds and light. As I returned to this place, I got down in a squat position and took a couple of images of this scene from different perspectives. Right as I set up what I considered to be the perfect perspective, this man pushed the door open quickly and the light hit him perfectly. I snapped one image of him before he slammed the door shut when seeing me and eyed down my camera. The title "Peak a Boo" stems from the way the man opened this door super fast and then slammed it shut. I was also inspired to name it this because I was editing this image after having visited another town in New Mexico called Peekaboo.

  • The most important thing exploring my creativity has taught me is to trust the process and live in the moment. This means taking in photographic scenes but not obsessing about getting the perfect image or having faith my hand will create something magical with a pen, and not thinking about tomorrow.
