Outside

Mehreen S.

  • Outside captures the isolation of the quarantine during the COVID pandemic. In the photo, a dauntingly tall, closed curtained window frames a young girl who stares out. The table and chairs beside her are empty, and aside from the light peeking through the cracks between the curtain and the wall, the colors are drab and dull, almost black and white like a noir film. This photo was taken at Notre Dame High School by a student and features another student as a subject.

  • I have explored many creative outlets, but drawing and creative writing are the ones that most allow me to express myself. The skills learned from both are adaptable and often used in school to release my emotions when stressed. Through art, I understand myself and the world around me.
