Olivia by The Backseat Lovers

Henry G.

  • When I first heard the song, "Olivia" by The Backseat Lovers, I was instantly hooked. I was amazed how beautiful the guitar was, and immediately picked up my acoustic and tried to learn it. It turned out to be much easier than I expected it to be, but there were still some parts that were hard for me to play through cleanly.

Fast forward a month later of practice, and I was able to sing and play through the song. I knew I wanted to submit a musical cover to BACYA this year, and I knew it was going to be Olivia. So I sat down at my computer, and began recording.

Everything in the final product of my cover is completely performed by me and me only. From the guitar to the drums to the singing, this is a one-man cover. I am extremely happy with how this turned out, and I think I got very close to my goal, which was to make it sound as close to the original version as possible.

I truly believe this song is one of the most beautiful songs to come out of the 21st century, and I'm very thankful I had the opportunity to submit my cover of it.

  • Creativity saves me from conforming to the blandness that this world has to offer. It allows me to stop thinking about anything else, and give everything in that moment to art.
