I found myself looking through a stack of old photographs inside a closet, nostalgia itself compiled. Flipping through, I found one a picture of my cousin and I during our youth when breaking a pinkie promise was the greatest sin. Our deflated curled hair and two pairs of palms grasping onto autumn's emblems nudged on my early girlhood and a time of no worries. It was her birthday coming up, so I was both inspired and found it fitting to draw this memorable photo of us. I developed new perspective on value, texture, and balance when creating my artwork. I used a monochrome approach to illustrate a past hanging onto printed photos for its valid existence.
