The first thing that struck me about New York was the contrast between its grit and glow. I wanted to capture the way the New York City lights illuminate the streets and reflect hundreds of colors on the cars and people below.

I have always been impatient, but painting has taught me to observe. There is art in the way light casts my dog’s fur in soft color on sunny days, in things I never noticed before. Exploring my creativity has given me an appreciation for the little things in life.
