My Mind

Art to me is a person's opinions and comments on the world. The inspiration for most of my artwork comes from my many identities. Being a first-generation American, a girl, and my Jewish Ukrainian heritage are all separate but interlinked parts of my identity. I draw from these parts of my life to create art that conveys my beliefs and struggles.
The tools I use for my work cannot be limited to any one medium. I use what I feel may best convey the message, choosing and exploring media is a crucial part of my art process. My belief is certain media suits certain topics better than others, If I wanted to express fluidity I might use oil and if I wanted to make a drawing relating to my childhood I may use crayons. It’s an extra push for me to further engulf myself in my art.
Art is my source of therapy, it lets me work through my feelings and thoughts and create a message that I want to say about said topic. It lets me process my emotions and communicate them efficiently and beautifully. Curiosity is one of the biggest parts of my work, in Judaism one of the biggest things is the importance of questioning, and it's often reflected in my work. Artists record history and society in a thoughtful way which most people don't think about because they question the world around them.
My goal as an artist is to explore topics that represent myself and my history, no matter how uncomfortable it makes people feel.

Exploring and expressing my creativity impacts my life by giving me an outlet to process the world around me. I have always had trouble recognizing my own thoughts and feelings rather then the ones other people put on me. Creating lets me be more in tune with my emotions and send a message to others.
