My Hero

The art I'm submitting is a portrait I did of my mom. The title of the work is My Hero, because she is my hero. I wanted to add elements that were important to both of us in the work, like the logo in the back, from the camp that shaped us both into who we are today. I talked with her throughout making the artwork to make sure we were both happy with how it turned out. I wanted to portray her how I see her, and make this so she knows how much she means to me and how much she's helped me over the years to become who I am today, supporting me though everything no matter what.

Being able to express myself has become my reason to do art, it's an outlet for me to express my emotions. It's connected me with a lot of great people too, and helped my mental health. Art has changed my life for the better overall, being able to express myself is just a part of that.
