My Heavy Heart

This piece depicts the inner turmoil I experienced in a romantic relationship that emerged from a shared pain that both my partner and I had gone through. While we did truly love each other, and the relationship served as a lifeline for the both of us, there was a weight, a shadow in knowing that the basis of our love was the suffering we'd been through beforehand. This is paralleled in the painting as the beautiful, bright flower is the focal point, yet shadowy cool tones cloak the landscape behind it. The poem on the left describes the safe feeling of this relationship, and the poem on the right describes the delicacy.

Art allows me to process my emotions in a healthy way, express myself to others, and connect with others. I am Vice President at my school's visual arts club, through this I work with many other clubs and am able to have a big impact on my school (creating art for advocacy work, decorations, etc.).
