It Looks Better / Considering Sorrows

Francis L.

  • The first poem, "It Looks Better," is a commentary on the various ways Earth looks so perfect from certain angles. Yes, Earth is beautiful, but Earth is also flawed. Only by seeing beyond those romanticized images and acknowledging the truth can we progress and change the world for the better.

The second poem, "considering his sorrows," is a reflection on the experiences of someone I know well. It's a sketch of his emotions on certain nights, and I try my best to do justice to the wild turbulent emotion he goes through.

  • Creativity is a way for me to explore myself. I often have spurts of inspiration where I discover something or come up with something and work furiously to develop the idea or learn more about it. These moments of pure passion—pure humanity—form a crucial part of my identity.
