Hungarian Dance No.1 by J. Brahms

Allie H.

  • We came together as a string quartet from Oakland Youth Orchestra. This arrangement for this piece is unique, because this piece is meant for solo violin and piano accompaniment. Our coach, James Choi, picked this piece because the piece itself plays a large role in the history of classical music. It is well known by many musicians and is considered to be one of Brahms' best masterpieces. This piece is inspired by Hungarian Folk Dances. Brahms captures the rich and vibrant soul of Hungary's beloved tradition of dance. Every bow stroke dances with fire and gusto. The Hungarian Dance No. 1 offers a glimpse of Hungary's artistic past.

  • Exploring and expressing creativity allows us to solidify our sense of identity and gives us a sense of who and what we want to be like in the future. Exploring creativity is like a key to a locked door. Expressing creativity allows us to build a community with alike people. Music define who we are.
