• Artist Statement

  The use of a telephoto lens compresses the grass, path, water, and mountains into flat color blocks. Without the presence of the second to the top fifth of the image, and the many hundred gravestones, there would be nothing except for atmospheric perspective to communicate depth. The human presence and quantity of headstones give the landscapes a new sense of topography.
