God

Isaiah J.

  • I wrote, directed, starred in, and edited this film as my thesis for California State Summer School for the Arts’ film program. It shows two characters, one the personification of religion, the other the personification of atheism arguing about their beliefs. This idea really just popped into my head fully formed, and making it was a way for me to grapple with my own beliefs and try to figure out what makes sense to me as an Agnostic. I wrote the first draft in just an hour, but went through countless rounds of revisions based on feedback I got from my friends, peers, and teachers before I started filming and editing.

  • Storytelling is a human function. We all do it, and always have. But for me, there's more to it than that. It's an integral part of who I am. Storytelling is what makes me feel most alive. It's what I do best. It's the only way I can truly express myself.
