From the Bank of the River

Elie K.

  • My intention when making this painting was for it to be a gift for a person I love. I referenced images of the subject and setting throughout the process with the goal of making the depicted moment recognizable to the painting's recipient. I started with a few notebook sketches to test out proportions and lighting before moving on to the canvas. The final product is a result of many focused hours and countless layers of paint. It depicts a peaceful moment of a person in their element.

  • I use art to relax in my free time and to explore techniques and styles that I learn about when studying art. My paintings often have personal themes, and I gift them to my loved ones.
