• Artist Statement

  Chrysanthemums are often seen as joyous flowers, representing friendship and happiness. My piece, "Chrysanthemums," uses a different meaning for these beautiful flowers. Made during the height of the pandemic, this piece represents the emotional isolation I felt. Yellow Chrysanthemums specifically can represent neglected love and sorrow, thus perfectly encapsulating my feelings at the time.

  Exploring my creativity helps me express my feelings and identity. I often find words limiting when expressing myself so I use painting as a way to fully represent the complex emotions and ideas I have.
