Car In Forest

Sanjana S.

  • This picture was taken during a family vacation to Maui, one of the Hawaiian Islands. I took this picture on a famous scenic route, the Road to Hana. The sight of this road, one filled with countless switchbacks and single lane bridges, amazed me in regard to the beauty and the ease at which people were driving on it. The particular single lane bridge featured in this photograph was in front of a magnificent waterfall. While many of the tourists were admiring the waterfall (which I admired as well, and took many photos of), I was watching this single lane bridge and all the cars that crossed it. I knew that this was what I wanted to capture; that this was what my perception of beauty was. I wanted to express the Road to Hana in my eyes: a marvel of man made engineering through luscious forest. Of course, the Road to Hana is a magnificent route with stunning scenery, but it is incomplete without appreciating the path that takes us through it.

  • Through exploring and expressing my creativity, I feel that I become a happier person. Taking photos allows me to capture my perception of the characteristics of the world around us, and sharing these photographs with people enables me to communicate with others my vision of the world.
