Bed Head

Bed Head reclaims my sexuality by using viewing distances and the individualized nature that fashion design offers as a medium. It is about the shift from needing sexual validation to self-sustained sexuality. I used inspiration from four-poster beds, inspired by the individualized space they offer in addition to their sexual connotation. This way, when wearing the garment, I am in bed with myself. I am immersed in my own space behind the curtains. On the base part of the design, the feathers are made of cut-up romance novels. I wanted sex, romance, and intimacy at the garment’s core, and reading romance novels is done in private, for personal joy. The way the feathers were cut made it so the viewer could not read the pages. I made it so that only I knew the true nature of the garment. Fashion design as a medium worked to express this concept because of its individualized nature. To be able to fully understand fashion, you must wear it. I am the only one wearing Bed Head and don’t need others to wear it for it to have value.
