After Dark

This film is about a girl waiting for her friend at a dark playground. She is haunted by a mysterious figure, and as more details are revealed, she begins to fear for her life. My group made it for an assignment for our film class. We were supposed to make a horror film, and I liked the idea of using childhood aspects to make it scarier. I used the setting of a playground because it is something that is supposed to be innocent and safe, so by juxtaposing it with a dangerous situation, it makes it more unsettling and scary. I also really liked the idea of the tunnel slide at the end because it was a very confined area, making it more scary and claustrophobic. I also always found those scary as a kid, because I couldn't see if I was going to run into anyone. So I wanted to tap into that fear of the unknown with that scene, and with the whole movie in general.

Making films is how I best communicate with other people. I find a lot of social things difficult, but I have been able to find my voice through my art and creativity. Without film, I wouldn't have a lot of the friends I have now and I don't think I'd be the same person without it.
