A Study of Fish

Isabela P.

  • I created my piece, to explore the diverse world and forms of fish. I wanted to depict many different types of fish in different ways. Utilizing silhouette, the skeleton, different point of views, mediums, and styles. This piece is mixed media, specifically, watercolor, paint markers, colored pencils, and pen. I wanted to use bright colors to best reflect the natural seascape color palette. I've always been interested in the underwater world of sea creatures. Fish are just like people, a product of their environment. Each looks, acts, and works differently in order to adapt to their surroundings. This piece represents not only my interest in the underwater world, but my reason for creating art, to better understand the world around me.

  • Creating illustrations is the way I can explore the world around me. With illustration I can freeze any moment, idea, or feeling, in time. Creating illustrations helps me process my thoughts and feelings. I could say anything I wanted to in images when I couldn’t say it in words.
