Winter’s Rend

Emanuel L.

  • Every year begins and ends with winter. I wrote this poem in the perspective of a personified year in order to express the notion that the same thing may be viewed from two opposite standpoints. This poem may also represent the life stages of a human being, from beginning to peak to end.

  • Although space on Earth is finite, space in the mind is infinite. To be creative is to see things that “can’t be seen,” build things that “can’t be built,” solve problems that “can’t be solved.” Simply put, creativity is thinking outside the box - the restraints exerted upon us by materiality.
