When I create my work I like to be clean and somewhat minimalistic but also have depth, character, and details that aren't super obvious. When I create my work I try to push myself to make work that challenges me as an artist. When I made my lantern I made many small cuts on the top that were very delicate. I also wanted it to have a circular flow of motion that doesn't get stopped by the edges of the box, so that is how the main patterns began to be created. When I made the top designs on the box I felt that it added clean details that fit well with the shape of the box yet when I made the cut for the lid it flowed with the base's design patterns.
