Plastic Bags, thread
-
This piece, a maid’s dress crafted from disposable plastic takeout bags, is inspired by my mother’s invisible efforts of bagging Chinese takeout. The plastic bags symbolize the undervalued labor women perform—essential yet treated as disposable. I began by sketching the outfit, then measured and cut the plastic bags according to the sketch. I sewed the sleeves, dress, and other components, finally using hot glue to secure everything together.

Creativity is the language of my hands, a way to mold emotions, experiences, and humanity into form. It’s about shaping the unseen, giving life to ideas that reflect the world’s complexity, beauty, and struggles, while inviting connection and dialogue between people.
