Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by how a human face can become, by the trials and tribulations of life, weathered, for nothing better illustrates the hardships that so many trudge through silently. But, it was only upon seeing such a face on a Tibetan monk, standing contemplatively as snow fell upon him amidst the harshness of winter, that I thought of capturing such a state of being in the form of colored pencil. I have indeed sought to depict not only the monk’s resilience through his wrinkles of age, but likewise his wisdom and dignity through his spectacles. There is one other equally potent motivation for this illustration, this work is just as much an urgent call for individuals and societies across the world to maintain respect for all the rich histories and traditions that contribute to the colorful tapestry of our common humanity.

Creativity is a way of expressing my thought and my emotion, it’s the driving force of my art work, it’s my aspiration and my compassion. I’m not sure if I will become an artist one day, but I will try to embrace this world and my life with much creativity.
