to my friend, stampler

Rayven C.

  • Love is something I believe that no person should ever have to hide, or keep tucked away under their bed, letting it addle and as you pretend it doesn’t exist out of shame. Yet, it was so prevalent in the past to have to hide words of affection and romance in statements that could very well be a double entendre only meant for their lover to hear. I don’t normally write often, as I draw most of the time, but my work submitted was a sort of way to depict a side to queer relationships in the past that were hidden in folded letters or could never be said face to face. When I wrote this, I kind of wanted to channel love from the people before me who were never able to boast about their lover, or to at least say what they never could.

  • Creativity is the expression of inner thoughts and feelings, a way to connect with others and ourselves. Finding new perspectives, solving problems, and embracing the uniqueness of life. In its gentle unfolding, it allows us to share our experiences and emotions, a way of giving us a voice.
