Threads of Hope, Tapestry of Struggle

  • This artwork shows the struggles of a teenage immigrant who arrives in the U.S. with hopes of a better life, only to face the harsh reality of poverty and exclusion. The teenager feels torn between two worlds: the poor life she left behind and the shiny, unattainable world of wealth she sees around her. The background is designed like a woven tapestry, blending images of her humble wooden home surrounded by rocks with the towering, modern buildings of a wealthier world. This design reflects her deep longing for something better, while also showing the painful truth that it feels just out of reach. Through this piece, I aim to give voice to the silent struggles of immigrant teenagers whose dreams of a better future are often crushed by the harsh challenges of their new reality.
