The Heart To Serve

• Artist Statement

  Inspired by a segment from the prayer that is said daily in my school, my art displays what I believe having the heart to serve would look like. At times we don’t always feel like we’re being the best version of ourselves, and this is embodied in the contrast between the darkness the subject is engulfed in and the bright and vibrant pencil background serve as a reminder that the light is ultimately in us. The darkness is temporary, the light is coming to give back everything that the darkness stole.
