Sunset in Jaffa

Tamar D.

Guachue, colored pencils

  • For this painting, I used a photo I took in Tel Aviv, Israel as reference. Since the lighting was a bit boring, I decided to change the time into a sunset, practicing how the light will affect the whole surroundings. I reflected the sky’s colors in the ocean and created harsh shadows to portray a convincing sunset time. I experimented with different use of brush strokes to create depth and contrast between objects’ textures and material. I hope to inspire a tranquil, calm feeling in the audience.

  • To me, creativty means positivity and expression. Through creativity, I express feelings and ideas to people that I would not have been able to express using words. I use creativity to spread positive concepts and ideas, using creativity to try to impact someone’s day.
