Spider Scare

Anna S.

  • I find it funny that the sound of a goat screaming is similar to that of a human screaming. After creating my character turnaround for Yagi, I wanted to animate him in a scene where he was startled, causing him to scream. Starting this animation was difficult because I often find animating keyframes challenging. For motion reference, I chose to film myself acting out exactly what I do when I see a spider. After choosing the keyframes, the process became more enjoyable because my favorite part of animating is creating the in-betweens. I drew the background as a pumpkin patch where Yagi lives. The background provides a setting and story for my short animation. Animating this piece helped me learn about timing and planning a complete animated sequence.

  • Creativity is a universal language, and so is humor. I’m happiest when people get my jokes and understand the story I try to communicate visually. Animation and humor blend well. My goal with my art, like an animation, is to make my work relatable while simultaneously conveying something humorous.
