Seven-Thousand

Jeremy M.

  • My poem ”Seven-Thousand” is about my Filipino identity, touching on themes of injustice, displacement, and self-discovery. I was inspired by my social justice class, so it reflects how I’ve come to better understand both my selfand the flaws in society. Many of the stanzas draw from personal experiences of growing up and living in the USA, where the struggles of identity and belonging are deeply felt.

  • Creativity to me is the ways in which people are able to express themselves. The ability to come up with new innovative ideas and being able to convey emotion any way a person see’s fit.
