  • This piece encapsulates what having the “heart to serve” means to me. The heart is such a fragile organ, yet is what allows us to live. It is symbolic of passion, desire, and love. Held up by monotone hands with a wing-like appearance drawn roughly in pencil, the heart is the center of the piece, appearing to absorb color— and the attention. I intend to allude that such servitude to others can come at a cost to one ones’ self. The blood splatters and messy streaks represent the emotional turmoil of being bled dry by the people surrounding you. While having the “heart to serve” is an admirable trait, I found that you must also consider your own wellbeing in the process. The heart is more than what keeps us alive— it’s messy, delicate, and visceral, and must be carefully tended to. Find people who value your heart.

  • Creativity to me is self-expression. There cannot be a definite answer to this question, as defining creativity would defeat the unlimitedness of it.
