Pondering

Graphite on paper

  • When I went on a school trip to Taiwan, and in one of the schools I visited the students were drawing a model from life. The model was a middle aged asian woman, and once I started drawing I couldn’t stop. I was very passionate about perfecting this piece, I made sure to shade her face with small light strokes to build up the value. I usually hate drawing in graphite because of that, but with “Pondering” I took the time limit as a challenge. Unfortunately I didn’t get to finish it in Taiwan, but as soon as I got back to SF I was determined to finish the drawing.

  • Creativity to me is one of the things that make us human. Its is a crucial quality that bring innovations into the world. Creativity specifically to me is a way of expression, challenge and escape. I express my complex and simple emotions through my paintings, and challenge myself through technique.
