”Onward” is a charcoal rendition of my grandma’s time in Michigan. Drawn from a photograph taken right after she immigrated to America, I employed deep contrast to convey a feeling of isolation between the primary subject and the figures in the background, as well as brush work to create a soft, nostalgic atmosphere.

To me, creativity is showing people something they can’t see. It’s transforming my own ideas of the world into something tangible—whether through drawing, film, writing, or music. Creativity is my way of sharing unique perspectives and emotions that otherwise would have only been experienced by me.
