Nothing Gold Can Stay

Olivia B.

  • This song is called Nothing Gold Can Stay, inspired by Robert Frost’s poem about the fleeting nature of beauty and how nothing in life lasts forever. When I first read the poem, I realized its message could apply to so many aspects of life, and that inspired me to create lyrics around the idea. This was the first song I ever finished recording, and it took six months because I realized it is actually quite challenging to record music, but incredibly rewarding. My piano teacher helped me record using some of his equipment, and from there, it was a process of refining each part. I played the guitar countless times until it felt just right, while the vocals alone took almost a month to perfect. Overall, this experience taught me so much about the recording process and helped me grow as a musician.

  • Creativity, to me, is a way to express myself in a way that is not possible with just words. Music, melodies, rhythms, and tones has the potential to be more powerful than anything someone can say.
