Night Watch

This photo of a beautiful historic front-light statue in Union Cemetery showcases a soldier standing tall, watching vigilantly over his resting brothers through the eerie night. I found inspiration for this piece while driving to the grocery store one night. I was stopped at a red when the statue at the front of the head of the cemetery caught my eye. The following night, I went to the cemetery with my camera, tripod, and an industrial-grade flashlight to capture my image. After about an hour of trying different angles and lighting, I finally got the shot and moved into post-prediction. During editing, I made an effort only to make minor touchups, preserving the images’ authenticity.

To me creativity is a form of communication. From a young age I have been able to use my photography and other digital art work to connect and form relationships with others. As they say a picture speaks a thousand words.
