Medusa’s Twilight
Shriya Y.
Clay, Glaze

This piece reimagines Medusa as both powerful and vulnerable, using color and texture to reflect her complexity. Her blue face with purple freckles conveys beauty and danger, while the passion flower glaze on her snakes symbolizes strength and transformation. The work portrays Medusa as a symbol of resilience, caught between innocence and anger. Inspired by her evolving depiction in art, I aimed to show Medusa as a misunderstood figure shaped by pain and change. The challenge was attaching the snakes, requiring careful precision and glazing. This process taught me the value of patience and attention to detail.
